History
ED & F Man was set up in 1783 by James Man in the City of London. Seven decades later his grandsons, Edward Desborough and Fredrick Man gave their initials to the name of the company that survives today. From sugar brokers ED& F Man developed its business to physical trading in sugar, then coffee and later financial instruments. ED& F Man split from Man Group Plc in 2000 following a management buy out and today with over 4,000 employees and operations in around 50 countries it is a leading provider of sugar, molasses, animal feed, tropical oils, rubber, biofuels, coffee and risk management services.
