HR Business Partner – Coffee (Maternity Cover)

Location: Winterthur, Switzerland


ED&F Man are looking to recruit an experienced HR Business Partner to cover a maternity leave for a period of approximately 9 months with our Coffee Commodity Trading business.  Working within our Human Resources function, this position will suit a commercially focused individual who enjoys a fast moving and demanding environment. The ideal candidate will be able to establish personal credibility rapidly and be able to apply a strong operational approach with a capacity to influence the Human Resources agenda.

This role will have the opportunity to make a real impact working on a range of global HR projects, and supporting the day -to day management of HR issues. 



  • Responsible for deploying Group and local HR policies, processes and programmes as well as partnering with the Coffee Business Unit.
  • Responsible for delivering a highly responsive generalist HR service to fast moving global businesses.
  • Responsible for managing the talent review process
  • Managing employee relations issues as and when they arise and promoting strong employee engagement.
  • Deliver a strong talent sourcing and recruitment service in terms of efficiency and calibre of candidates.
  • Lead the identification and resolution of compensation and benefit issues, domestic and complex relocation / expatriation issues.



You will be degree educated, preferably with a Human Resources Management qualification, with extensive generalist HR experience. 


The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial bias and will not be a purist HR practitioner; the role will suit an active individual who enjoys ‘getting things done’ and working with the business to deliver valued HR solutions.


  • Must be an experienced Business Partner covering a full range of HR functions, international experience is advantageous.
  • A pragmatist who understands how to provide responsive HR services to a demanding client base.
  • Attention to detail and a strong ability to execute.
  • Able to act autonomously on local issues but also collaborate without politics to achieve functional excellence.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • An orderly thinker who is comfortable directly handling administrative tasks.
  • Verbal and written proficiency in English is essential.
  • Comfortable working in an international environment.
  • A strong comfort with numbers is essential as is reward experience.
  • A capacity to be highly responsive to front-office clients’ needs and able to influence busy executives to act on HR advice.
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail is vital with an ability to do own administration and end to end HR processes as required.
  • Must be a strong team contributor and collaborator within HR and the client business.
  • Ability to deliver projects and collaborate with colleagues to ensure solutions are ’joined up’.


This position will report to the Head of Group Human Resources based in London.
