The Role

ED&F Man Liquid Products Division is a leading global supplier in molasses, molasses blends and related liquid products as well as dry cargo products for (mainly) animal feed industry. The Amsterdam office is the regional headquarters for the European, Asian and African business. We have an exciting opportunity to join us in the Egypt office to support the dry and liquid products business. This is an independent role part of the local and regional Logistics & Trade Execution team based in Amsterdam, where you get the chance to support our Egyptian business. The role will report to the Trade Execution and Logistics Manager based in Amsterdam with a dotted line to the local Operations Manager.



The Logistics Specialist is the link in the chain between our suppliers, service providers and the trade execution desk in Amsterdam and will be responsible for organizing the full logistics process of transporting beet pulp pellets from the sugar mill(s) to our rented warehouses whilst managing the costs and serving the needs of the warehouses and suppliers.


The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Ensure the planning of predominantly trucks and container deliveries. Follow-up and monitor the deliveries and report the status of contracts execution daily.

  • Organise the transport before the start, including price negotiations with the logistical parties.

  • Ensure that the orders are processed in the system and instruct service suppliers.

  • Follow-up and monitor the operations at ports, mills and warehouses based on business requirements.

  • Follow-up with supervision company the exact received quantity from trucks at ports/warehouses and monitor the stocks numbers and our competitors’ practices and report it consequently.

  • Ensure timely settlement of payment and handle and follow-up documents with banks.

  • Support the team with all the external stakeholders such as supervision companies, warehouse keepers & owners, stevedoring companies, port agents and counterparties problem.

  • Understand the requirements from the Trading desk and Trade Execution to implement it.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor degree in preferably Logistics.

  • Minimum 6 years of logistics experience working specifically with trucks in an international environment would be ideal.

  • Knowledge of logistics, warehousing and controlling such processes.

  • Excellent oral and written business Arabic and English.

  • Flexible and adaptable; you must be eager to experience different working environments and able to adjust quickly. Keen to take on new challenges.

  • Must be very organised and able to work within tight deadlines with minimum supervision.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively build strong working relationships with others and provide them with your support and/or leadership.

  • Determined, resilient and eager to join the ED&F Man business.

High level of integrity, flexibility, ability to work under pressure and self-reflection are key attributes to perform this role.
