Chief Financial Officer – Kyagalanyi Coffee

THE ROLE

 

As a key member of the Kyagalanyi Coffee Ltd. Senior Management team, the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) will assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This includes but is not limited to direct responsibility for managing the internal finance function including accounting, cash forecasting, strategic planning and compliance. The CFO also holds overall oversight and management of the IT function across the organisation. 

 

This is a highly commercial role and a great opportunity for a senior finance leader to join a world leading trader of agricultural commodities within a wholly owned subsidiary of our Coffee Trading Division - VOLCAFE.  This senior position offers a broad spectrum of opportunity, scope, commercial activity and authority.

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives as well as instilling regular continuous improvement reviews.
  • Originate financing from local banks
  • Ensure credibility and delivery of the finance function by providing timely and accurate analysis of forecasts, cash flows, budgets and all other mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Take a hands-on lead position in managing the finance team including proactively building a solid finance talent pipeline and high performing engaged team.
  • Partnering with the General Manager and other functions to drive value creation (ROI and ROCE) and overall improvement of business performance (efficiency & effectiveness) through goals and objectives
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify the overall business needs in order to seek and implement a full range of business financial solutions.
  • Provide management with advice on the financial implications of business activities as well as acting as a bridge between the finance function and other functions across the business to drive efficiencies, robust controls and monitoring processes.
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the Company
  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
  • Leads on all IT related matters across the organisation as well as system roll outs
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with all Group and local regulatory laws for financial and tax reporting.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action.

 

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

 

  •  Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Accountancy qualification, such as ACA/FCA, ACCA/FCCA, CIMA, or CPA is essential.
  • Significant progressively responsible positions at a Senior Level within finance leadership roles within the coffee industry is desirable or experience in commodities, manufacturing and FMCG environments.
  • Experience in managing system roll outs from proposal/design to implementation and set up phases is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience in securing financing
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments in parallel and to the required standards and deadlines.
