As a Junior Trader you will work alongside experienced trading and logistics teams supporting them with daily trade activities and working closely with other traders to support existing business flows and relationships, and to developing new lines of business. Playing a key role in the efficient management and optimization of the book, in conjunction with the trader and the logistics teams. Maintaining a constant assessment with the logistics team of the inland US logistics network and will work on the strategy to strengthen and improve the business model and execution. The role provides long term development potential for someone eager to demonstrate their skills and experience in the fast-paced soft commodities environment.
Business Overview
ED&F Man Sugar source or process raw, white and specialty sugars from over 40 producing countries. We sell to refineries, industrial users, wholesalers, retailers, and consumers, offering local solutions though a number of in-country purchasing, sales and distribution businesses. We are part of ED&F Man Commodities, a world leading trader of agricultural products including coffee, sugar, molasses and animal feed.
Key Accountabilities
• ITAS (in-house system) maintenance to ensure contracts are captured accurately
• Management of ITAS to ensure all Incoterms, costings, pricing and other miscellaneous items are accurate and tidy
• Writing contracts according to businesses closed with clients
• Ensuring progress is made between logistics and quality support teams with respect to quality complaints, and expected service levels are given to clients
• Liaising with clients to plan shipment and delivery plans, and communication and detailed planning with logistics team
• Oversight and follow up of debtors list in coordination with the US trader and logistics team
• Putting together proposals and obtaining internal approvals from risk department according to business plan of traders
Skills and Experience
• Ideally experience in a commercial, trading commodities or financial services organisation
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Agronomy, Mathematics, Economics, Business Management or Finance preferred
• Fluent written and spoken English with at least one other international language, preferably Spanish or Portuguese
