Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Junior Coffee Trader to work in a truly global environment to provide general administrative support to the Winterthur Coffee Trading desk. In this role, you will work diligently, productively and with a keen attention to detail. This position will provide pro-active and interactive exposure to the global green coffee trade, through exposure to functions and processes at destination.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Updating weekly spot price list and distributing to internal traders and clients.
  • Contract management including accurate, complete and timely release of physical coffee contracts.
  • Reviewing third party contract documentation and monitoring the return of contracts.
  • Currency hedging for contracts that are in non-USD currency.
  • Acting as the substitute trader in the absence of the senior traders.
  • Assisting in preparations for the month end process and valuation (P&L).
  • Supporting senior traders with preparing and creating high level client presentations alongside any other daily work tasks as required.
  • Daily green coffee quality tastings and learning about coffee.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree educated in a relevant business field; Business, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain or Engineering.
  • Commercial experience and/or business internship preferably but not limited to commodity trading.
  • Strong level of computer literacy, including using Excel and PowerPoint, Power BI advantageous.
  • Fully proficient in English and any other languages are of additional benefit.
  • Obtains a strong drive to learn about all aspects of global green coffee trade, including externally to the trading department.
  • Highly adaptable, reactive and flexible to the dynamic trading environment and takes a proactive approach to managing tasks and completing priorities.
  • Must be diligent and have a strong attention to detail as well as good communication skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure.
  • Committed team player who is willing to be flexible and assist with a whole range of tasks to support colleagues.
  • Willing and able to relocate globally if the progression of the role requires.
