Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Research Analyst to work in a truly global
environment supporting Volcafe’s global coffee trading strategy through the collection, analysis, and
interpretation of quantitative and fundamental coffee market data reporting to the Deputy Head of
Agronomy, with a functional reporting line to the Head of Coffee Research, The role provides long term
development potential for someone eager to demonstrate their skills and experience in the fast-paced soft
commodities environment.

We have built and operate sustainable coffee supply chains across all our origins, addressing key economic, social and environmental issues in coffee farming communities. Our Volcafe Way farmer support programme engages with thousands of coffee farmers and provides a holistic response to the challenges they face.

This role will be working for Volcafe in Bangalore, India.

Key Accountabilities:
▪ Creating and updating our in-house database of global coffee exports and imports on a daily, weekly and monthly frequency
▪ Collate global coffee, differential and local price data to be analysed by the quantitative trading team
▪ Monitor coffee supply and demand fundamental drivers to support the head of coffee research in presenting updates to senior management
▪ Analyse and interpret developments in the physical coffee market, including variables listed above to develop enhanced trading model
▪ Generating timely and ad-hoc updates to the propriety trading team
▪ Explore additional data sources and platforms that will streamline analysis and usability of research data for both the inhouse research team and traders.
▪ Work with our inhouse technology team closely on projects including developing systems used to process large amounts of data
▪ Creating Power BI dashboards (or any updated software) to depict fundamental coffee data using both public and proprietary data sources.
▪ Be an integral member of the global coffee research team responsible for supporting Volcafe’s global coffee trading strategy

Skills and Experience:

▪ A degree in Economics, Maths, Statistics, Business, Computer Sciences preferable
▪ Highly numerate, with excellent attention to detail
▪ Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey facts and ideas clearly
▪ 3 years + working in commodities research potentially for a bank, trading house or hedge fund
▪ Familiarity with data scraping techniques and automation tools to collect data from public and internal sources.
▪ Strong ability to manage and analyse large datasets to identify trends and generate forecasts, with familiarity in leveraging AI tools to enhance data management and analytical efficiency
▪ A keen enthusiasm for research, commodities and data, as the role will focus largely on the management, analysis and dissemination of quantitative data
▪ Organised with attention to detail and goal-oriented
▪ Work to meet consistent deadlines
▪ Fluent English language skills
