Role Overview
We are looking for a Sustainability Coordinator to join our Group Sustainability team, supporting initiatives across the Group in our MLP, Sugar, Coffee and Cotton divisions. This role will suit a high-calibre individual looking to build a career in sustainability, ESG or responsible sourcing. We will also consider strong graduates who can demonstrate a clear interest in ESG reporting.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of sustainability and ESG activities, supporting Business Units, the Sustainability Committee, and Technical Working Groups. It involves regular interaction with senior management and external stakeholders, providing a strong platform for developing a long-term career in sustainability with opportunities for further specialisation.
Business Overview
Established in 1783, ED&F Man is an agricultural commodities merchant with 2,800 people in 43 countries and annual revenue in excess of $8bn. We trade sugar, coffee, molasses, animal feed and fish oils. Corporate responsibility is ingrained in our culture. Key Accountabilities
The main focus of the role will be to advance Group sustainability initiatives and responsibilities will cover a broad spectrum of ESG activities including:
- Assist in the development of plans for all Business Units (MLP, Sugar, Coffee and Cotton) to meet Group sustainability KPIs.
- Assist in gathering, processing and verifying data to support sustainability KPIs and reporting requirements in alignment with the Sustainability Committee and Technical Working Groups.
- Coordinate KPI results per BU and collate them into Group numbers.
- Track metrics associated with sustainability-linked loan KPIs and report progress to external stakeholders and banks.
- Act as Secretary for Sustainability Committee and Technical Working Groups meetings, including preparation of meeting minutes.
- Support compliance activities such as drafting mandatory ESG reports and statements and coordinating with data owners.
- Lead or support Group or BU External sustainability assessments like Ecovadis and support in resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare businesses for sustainability ratings audits.
- External information requests, including the preparation of responses to sustainability information requests from external stakeholders.
- Lead or assist with other sustainability-related work/projects as needed by the business units and at group level.
Skills and Experience
The ideal applicant will have up to 2 years’ experience. There is no requirement for this to be within a corporate sustainability department, however knowledge or understanding of commercial markets or commodities will be an advantage. We are looking for:
- Strong interest in sustainability, ESG, and responsible sourcing, with an understanding of sustainability frameworks, KPIs and reporting requirements.
- Experience in data collection, processing, validation and analysis to support sustainability metrics and performance tracking.
- Understanding of ESG reporting and compliance requirements, with experience supporting internal and external sustainability reports and disclosures.
- Strong general IT skills, particularly in Excel, with the ability to manage datasets, track KPIs and understand system workflows and data processes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management, business units and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and coordinate with stakeholders across different regions, functions and time zones.
- High attention to detail, with a structured and methodical approach to documentation, reporting and data accuracy.
