Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Volcafe Specialty team as an experienced and high calibre Specialty Coffee Salesperson to work in a truly global environment to work closely with the General Manager and the coffee trading team to build supply chain relationships with customers to sell speciality coffee. They will also need to lead the development of marketing materials and plans.

Volcafe Speciality was founded in 2001 and has been a relied upon supply chain partner to the specialty coffee industry working with roasters just starting out in the business through roasters opening multiple cafes around their city, their state and the nation.  We see ourselves as an integral supply chain link between producers and coffee roasters, enabling us all to make the coffee business better.

Key Accountabilities

  • Establish commercial relationships with small to medium sized roasters to drive revenue and support the organizations strategy
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to engage and sell coffee to the targeted industry segments
  • Collaborate with and support the other departments required to implement the organizations strategy like traffic, trading, quality, finance and communications
  • Monitor and measure KPIs developed with management to track sales growth and objectives
  • Perform outreach and education to the specialty coffee community through webinars, virtual sessions and in person cupping events
  • Maintain and develop key client relationships utilizing a CRM to track interactions
  • Provide market intelligence to the trading team and management
  • Support the trading team in the management and upkeep of remote quality lab
  • This role will spend a large percentage of its time on the phone talking to customers and following sales leads

Skills and Experience

You will be driven and passionate about specialty coffee and the impact we have on our communities and the world through it’s production, trade and consumption.  You see the coffee trade as an opportunity to connect and yourself as an ambassador of Volcafe’s origin operations to the specialty coffee world at large.

  • Prior sales experience in green coffee and/or specialty coffee is ESSENTIAL
  • Strong communication skills are essential due to the phone-based nature of this role
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, other languages are a strong plus
  • Confident use of Microsoft 360 suite of tools including Word, Excel, Power BI, Dynamics CRM
  • Competent in the assessment of coffee quality, grading and cupping, sample roasting and/or Q grade certification a bonus
  • Knowledge of coffee contract terms and of coffee export and import processes
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team of experts
  • Possess a keen commercial drive to meet and surpass stretch targets
  • Willingness to travel at short notice to any destination worldwide
  • Excellent communication and cultural awareness to successfully manage a diverse portfolio of clients.
