Role Overview

We have a newly created opportunity for a Strategy Director, Americas with a proven track record in the US agricultural markets to join our ED&F Man (MLP) division for the Americas based at our regional headquarters for the Americas in New Orleans, Louisiana, reporting to the Managing Director of Americas.

We seek an individual with the capability, determination and strategic acumen to review and set the foundations to build our business to scale; this is not a caretaking position. We have several businesses which require thorough strategic review to determine if they could be a platform for further expansion and growth. We require a highly experienced, strategic, entrepreneurial and commercial leader to further develop a diverse set of business operations from pulse processing, organic based (liquid) fertilizers and animal protein blending which includes warehousing, logistics, manufacturing assets and markets across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and beyond. You will become responsible for challenging the commercial and operational footprint of these businesses, devising our future growth plan and once board approved executing on this strategy.

ED&F Man Liquid Products Europe and Far East is a leading supplier of molasses, molasses blends, liquid feed production, beet pulp pellets, specialty fertilizers and other products.

We are part of ED&F Man Commodities, a world leading trader of agricultural products including coffee, sugar, molasses and animal feed.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the strategic review and transformation of our current commercial and operational footprint, deciding where we double down, pivot, or evolve.
  • Review end to end P&Ls, commercial performance, profitability, manufacturing costs, and operational efficiency across all business areas.
  • Lead market expansion and divestment opportunities, unlocking new business to business opportunities across relatable and growing sectors. Identifying, shaping, and pursuing new channels and partnerships across North America and international markets.
  • Streamline the supply chain across logistics, procurement, and delivery across a multi-product, multi-region value chain.
  • Build and inspire a diverse high-performance team of commercial, supply chain, and operations professional, instilling a culture of ownership, agility, and results.
  • Serve as a key voice in our global leadership team, aligning our North American ambitions and growth strategy.

Skills and Experience

  • A strategic, commercial and operational leader with at least 10 years of experience across agricultural or commodity-based business sectors with global exposure.
  • Deep operational experience in manufacturing, warehousing, and cross-border logistics ideally in pulses, rendering, food ingredients, animal feed, fertilisers or other agricultural-based sectors.
  • Proven P&L management with the ability to grow margin, improve cost structures, and align commercial strategy with operational capability applying financial discipline across jurisdictions.
  • Comfortable in ambiguous, high-growth, post-acquisition environments having faced and overcome significant challenges and able to apply lessons learned.
  • Skilled at leading diverse, cross-regional teams and managing complex stakeholder environments.
  • Multi-regional operational and asset management.
  • Collaborative leadership and cross-functional coordination.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, export-driven agribusiness environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and regulatory standards (USA, Canada, Mexico – USDA, USMCA, etc.) and trade compliance.
  • Data-savvy, curious, and open to digital transformation, analytics, and sustainability-driven innovation.
  • Fluent in English (Spanish advantageous), with a willingness to travel frequently across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
