Role Overview

The Consolidation Accountant is core to the Group’s financial reporting through the accurate and on-time preparation of consolidated financial statements for management and external stakeholders, and for statutory reporting.

This role is designated to support the Group Consolidation Manager in the preparation of the monthly reporting and annual financial statements, as well as day to day support of the Group Finance function.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support with the production of the monthly Management Performance Report (MPR) for review by senior management including the preparation of the monthly ‘Flash’ reporting and monthly cash flows.
  • Supporting the preparation of the year-end consolidated accounts, ensuring compliance with Group accounting policies, statutory requirements and IFRS; including the preparation of notes and associated first reviews to ensure accuracy and clarity of explanation with a clear audit trail.
  • To be the key contact and manager of the year end audit process, including preparation of accounting guidance papers for internal users and technical accounting memos for external audit.
  • Preparation of accounts (FRS 101) and other information required for statutory compliance for selected Group entities.
  • Support in identifying and implementing improvements to consolidation team performance, for example:
    • Identification and implementation of automation opportunities within the reporting process wherever feasible to reduce manual work, errors and process time.
    • Lead or contribute to accounting projects related to reporting.
  • Deal with ad hoc internal and external requests, such as the provision of accounting support to BU finance teams, and the provision of information for lender due diligence and questions.
  • Contribution to a high-performance, collaborative team culture within the Finance function, and company more generally, to foster an inclusive environment for our people leading to confidence, growth, retention, and reputation.

Skills and Experience

  • ESSENTIAL Qualified Accountant – ACA / ACCA with post qualified employment experience preferably from MNE/Global corporate or practice accountancy.
  • ESSENTIAL Competent knowledge of IFRS, and interpretation and application of accounting standards.
  • Experience of complex global group consolidation and audit, intercompany transactions, shareholdings, loan structures, etc.
  • Experience of financial reporting consolidation systems / hierarchies (Hyperion a plus).
  • Familiar with managing external audit processes to tight timelines.
  • Professional and confident, with credibility at senior level; proficient presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Detail-driven, results oriented and highly organized, with the ability to work in a dynamic multinational environment.
  • Proven ability in establishing enduring and effective relationships with key business and financial stakeholders – accounting colleagues, business unit finance directors, external auditors, etc.
