This is a unique opportunity to join ED&F Man Commodities’ newly established cotton trading business unit as an Operations Execution Officer. The role offers hands-on experience in the end-to-end trade execution process, from contract to delivery, while supporting global operations and developing operational expertise in commodity trading. The Operations Execution Officer will work closely with the Amsterdam trading desk and international origination teams, helping to streamline processes and support digital initiatives across our operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Build, optimize, and support digital solutions for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of physical cotton contracts, shipping instructions and Letters of Credit (LCs), integrating workflows with internal systems and external counterparties.
• Execute physical cotton contracts end-to-end, including shipping instructions and LCs, working cross-functionally with trade finance, commercial teams, service providers and counterparties.
• Manage the full trade documentation process for global shipments, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely submission, while driving continuous process improvements.
• Ensure timely submission of documentation to banks and customers in line with LC and contractual requirements, minimising operational risk.
• Monitor contract and trade performance, proactively identifying, escalating, and resolving delays or discrepancies and ensuring compliance with Incoterms, export controls, sanctions, and internal policies.
• Track shipments, documentation status, and inventory, resolving operational issues proactively and maintaining full visibility across the supply chain.
• Act as the liaison between commercial, trade finance, logistics, compliance, and external counterparties to ensure commercial alignment and resolution of escalated trade-related matters.
• Manage invoicing, payment processing, and account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and contractual compliance.
• Monitor inventory maintaining accurate stock-in/stock-out records for shipments, deliveries and warehouse balances.
• Drive the adoption of digital trade solutions and platforms, collaborating with IT teams to enhance system integration, data accuracy and workflow efficiency.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to identify opportunities for process improvement and accelerate document turnaround.

Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience in trade operations, logistics or related fields, with high preference to have experience in a commoditized industry.
• Knowledge of international trade processes, including trade documentation, Incoterms, Letters of Credit (LCs) and logistics.
• Proficient in data analysis and reporting experience with Excel (including VBA), Power BI, Tableau, Python or other business intelligence tools is highly desirable.
• Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Proactive, eager-to-learn, and problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with internal teams, external customers and service providers.

• Lead or assist with other sustainability-related work/projects as needed by the business units and at group level.

Skills and Experience

The ideal applicant will have up to 2 years’ experience. There is no requirement for this to be within a corporate sustainability department, however knowledge or understanding of commercial markets or commodities will be an advantage. We are looking for:

• Strong interest in sustainability, ESG, and responsible sourcing, with an understanding of sustainability frameworks, KPIs and reporting requirements.
• Experience in data collection, processing, validation and analysis to support sustainability metrics and performance tracking.

• In collaboration with the Head of HSEQ ensure accurate calculation of GHG emissions owning and maintaining the GHG inventory and methodologies.
• Lead the calculation of Scope 3 emissions, implement measurement frameworks in the Scope 3 calculations software, and advise businesses on improving data registration. Collaborate with IT to enhance data collection and formally approve data entries.
• Ensure data accuracy and completeness before uploading in the Scope 3 calculation software.
• Develop and execute a stakeholder engagement plan to gather primary emissions data and identify decarbonization opportunities.
• Manage and report on climate-related risks and opportunities.
• Utilize methodical approach to maintaining GHG methodologies and evidence trails, ensuring all entity-level data is ready for third-party verification (ISO-14064).
• Provide verified information for the Group’s reports.
• Lead the Group’s Technical Workstream on ‘Environmental Stewardship – Energy and Emissions’ including setting action plans and ensuring results are met.

Skills and Experience

The ideal applicant will have 10+ years experience in climate, sustainability, environmental management or a related field. There is no requirement for this experience to be within a dedicated sustainability team; however, knowledge or understanding of climate strategy, GHG accounting, energy transition or supply chain emissions will be an advantage. We are looking for:

• Strong understanding of climate change, decarbonisation and energy transition concepts, with a solid academic background in a relevant discipline.
• Knowledge and practical experience of GHG accounting methodologies, including emissions inventories and Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculations.
• Familiarity with climate-related reporting frameworks, standards and disclosures, alongside an understanding of climate risks and opportunities.
• Experience managing data integrity within proprietary GHG inventory systems involving a high volume of global contributors.
• Strong general IT and data skills, particularly with Excel, with the ability understand workflows and methodologies.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, and meet reporting and project deadlines.

We have  an opportunity for someone to join us as a Junior Cotton Trader to work in a truly global environment. This role will provide essential operational support to the trading desk, whilst also applying your data analytics skills to drive data-informed decision-making across both the front and back office. Key Accountabilities

• Support the senior traders by conducting in-depth fundamental and market analyses, through preparing market reports.
• Execute daily position reconciliations and P&L reporting in collaboration with shared functions, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to the trading desk.
• Tracking domestic and international price movements and performing import and export parity and competitiveness assessments, for major cotton-producing and consuming countries.
• Coordinate, validate, and consolidate global supply and demand data from regional offices and external sources to maintain a consistent and accurate global balance view.
• Develop and maintain business intelligence dashboards and analytical tools using applications including Tableau and Power BI, to visualize trade flows, positions and key performance metrics.
• Collaborate with the operations, IT and data teams to improve operational efficiency and enhance analytical workflows and decision-making support.
• Automate and optimize data models, reports and pipelines to improve data reliability, scalability and transparency across the organization.
• Oversee physical cotton contracts, ensuring the accurate, complete, and timely preparation, release and review of all third-party documentation and shipment details.

Skills and Experience

• Educated to Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably in business, finance, economics, data science or a related analytical subject.
• Up to 5 years professional experience, with exposure to commodity trading or agricultural markets being a preference.
• Strong proficiency in database management, data modeling and performance optimization.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VBA, for complex modeling and reporting.
• Experience designing and building dashboards using applications such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Familiarity with P&L reporting, position reconciliation and data-driven performance tracking.
• Good understanding of market fundamentals, price analysis and trade competitiveness metrics.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation and system integration is preferable.
• Knowledge of physical commodity operations, trade flows or logistics processes is preferable.

• Manage the end-to-end trade documentation process for global shipments, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely submission whilst driving continuous workflow improvements.
• Ensure timely submission of documentation to banks and customers, maintaining alignment with Letters of Credit and contractual requirements whilst minimizing operational risk.
• Monitor contract and trade performance, proactively identifying, escalating, and resolving delays or discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with Incoterms, export controls, sanctions and internal policies.
• Track shipments, documentation status, and inventory, resolving operational issues proactively and maintaining full visibility across the supply chain.
• Act as the senior liaison between commercial, trade finance, logistics, compliance, and external counterparties to ensure commercial alignment and resolution of escalated trade-related matters.
• Oversee invoicing, payment processing, and account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with contractual terms.

Trade Execution, Operational Risk and Documentation

• Oversee the full lifecycle of trade execution, including contract fulfilment, documentation and delivery tracking.
• Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., contract issuance, trade finance) to ensure smooth contract execution.
• Negotiate and settle final freight payments.
• Maintain contractual records, key correspondence, status, and issue reports.
• Identify operational risks in real-time and proactively implement mitigation plans.
• Ensure appropriate, auditable standards, controls, and governance frameworks are in place, ensuring contracts are legally and ethically compliant.

Leadership and Global Coordination

• Coordinate with the global ED&F Man logistics and execution teams across all commodity trading desks to ensure alignment on freight and third-party providers.
• Review organizational design and talent needs to ensure the team is fit-for-purpose and future-ready as the business grows.

Digitalisation and continuous Improvement

• Lead digitalization of the supply chain operations and logistics workflows, including system integration, automation and performance visibility.
• Design and implement data-driven dashboards and KPIs to monitor trade efficiency and minimize documentation turnaround time, discrepancies, document issuance time and working capital usage across all geographies.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement across documentation, workflows and interdepartmental coordination.

Skills and Experience

• Substantial global logistics management, trade execution or trade operations experience from agricultural soft commodity trading, preferably cotton, although metal trading is also relevant.
• Ability to work on own initiative, self-motivate and lead in high-pressure, time-sensitive trading environments.
• Knowledge and experience of contract management within trading, reimbursements and documentary, letters of credit.
• Deep knowledge of international trade documentation, Incoterms, and port/inland logistics.
• Strategic mindset with a hands-on and problem-solving approach.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to collaborate, manage and constructively engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders across diverse cultures and regions.
• High level of commercial acumen, strong analytical skills, and keen attention to detail.
